Crecimiento económico e inflación: determinantes del desempleo en Ecuador

Abstract

Este documento busca presentar un modelo econométrico sobre el comportamiento del Desempleo en el Ecuador, en función de las variaciones anuales del Crecimiento Económico y de la Inflación durante el período (1997 al 2016). determinando cuál ha sido su impacto en la realidad ecuatoriana a través de la aplicación de la Curva de Phillips y de la Ley de Okun. El método que se utilizo fue de Mínimos Cuadrados Ordinarios en “Gretl†(software econométrico) mediante la revisión bibliográfica del libro de Macroeconomía de Oliver Blanchard, papers como el de Nelson Chávez y de Martín Galindo entre otros; y de las instituciones nacionales tales como Banco Central (BCE), Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos (INEC) entre otros. Finalmente, los resultados obtenidos indican que el modelo económico que se adecua a la realidad ecuatoriana que explica el Desempleo es la Ley de Okun, dado que, al incrementarse las tasas de crecimiento el desempleo que tiende a decrecer y aumentar.
