El papel de la comercialización orquídeas y bromelias de mercados de los valles centrales de Oaxaca, México, en la subsistencia campesina

Abstract

En el estado de Oaxaca, se han realizado pocos estudios que indiquen cuáles son las especies vegetales silvestres que se aprovechan para la comercialización en los mercados tradicionales. La presente investigación se dirigió a conocer la diversidad de especies de orquídeas y bromelias silvestres que se comercializan en dichos lugares, y a estudiar la importancia que tiene la venta de estos recursos en la economía de quienes las ofertan. Se identificaron 18 especies distintas de la familia Orchidaceae y 13 de la familia Bromeliaceae. El mercado que comercializa un mayor número de especies de orquídeas es el de Zaachila (10), mientras que en la Central de Abasto se comercializa el mayor número de bromelias (9). En su mayoría son mujeres las que se dedican a la recolección y comercialización de PFNM, con la finalidad de complementar los ingresos de la unidad familiar.
