La debilidad de la economía mexicana: el crecimiento económico y las cuentas con el exterior

Abstract

La debilidad de la economía mexicana se expresa en escaso crecimiento económico tanto en términos del PIB total como en términos del PIB per cápita, así como en déficit en balanza comercial y en el conjunto de la cuenta corriente de la balanza de pagos. Lo anterior obedece a que el gobierno y la iniciativa privada gastan poco en investigación y desarrollo, así como a la política monetaria del Banco de México que atrae cantidades importantes de inversión extranjera de cartera (IEC) hacia el sector financiero de nuestra economía que repercute en una apreciación del peso frente al dólar que encarece exportaciones pero abarata importaciones.
