Abstract

Este artículo persigue aportar información en cuanto al papel del sector manufacturero y financiero en la economía venezolana. Para ello se establecen las siguientes interrogantes: (I) ¿Cómo ha sido la profundización financiera del sector manufacturero en Venezuela? (II) ¿Se cumple la primera ley de crecimiento endógeno de Kaldor en Venezuela? (III) ¿Están relacionados la profundización financiera del sector manufacturero y el PIB consolidado venezolano? Para darle respuesta a dichas preguntas se analiza la data proveniente de los informes trimestrales del Banco Central de Venezuela y la Superintendencia de las instituciones del sector bancario de Venezuela (SUDEBAN). Los resultados obtenidos permiten llegar a las siguientes conclusiones: (i) la tasa de crecimiento del sector manufacturero está positivamente correlacionada con el resto de los sectores económicos venezolanos, confirmándose el cumplimiento de la primera ley del crecimiento endógeno de Kaldor. (ii) La cartera de crédito dirigida al sector manufactura como porción del PIB mantiene una tendencia creciente, lo que indica que el financiamiento al sector manufacturero se ha incrementado y por último, que existe una correlación positiva entre el índice de profundización financiera del sector y el PIB consolidado venezolano, lo que sugiere que los recursos provistos por el sector bancario al sector manufacturero cumplen con un papel fundamental en el crecimiento económico venezolano.
