O processo de ocupação política e econômica da Amazônia brasileira no período colonial

Abstract

O presente trabalho se propõe a discorrer sobre o processo de ocupação política e econômica da Amazônia, descrevendo inicialmente o processo de ocupação territorial português tardia, efetuada somente no século XVIII, a partir de sucessivos conflitos e expulsões de expedicionários e entradistas estrangeiros. Veremos também o modelo de produção extrativista-manufatureiro, instituído no período pombalino com vistas ao comércio exterior, e o retrocesso econômico, tanto para Lisboa como para Amazônia, ocorrido com o declínio de Pombal no seio da aristocracia portuguesa.
