Subsistencia familiar sustentada en el manejo de recursos naturales y procesos agrícolas. El caso de una comunidad campesina del subtrópico mexicano

Abstract

En el año 2012 se realizó la investigación en la comunidad de Progreso Hidalgo, ubicada en el Subtrópico Mexicano, con la finalidad de realizar la caracterización ambiental para identificar y conocer los recursos naturales y procesos agrícolas que sustentan la economía de las familias campesinas. El método utilizado consistió en la aplicación de un instrumento de investigación (cuestionario) y entrevistas a todas las familias campesinas, recorridos por ambientes naturales y campos de cultivo, georeferenciación y cartografía automatizada. La investigación tiene como referentes teóricos a la geografía rural (Clout, 1976) y la ecología cultural (Steward, 1972). Los resultados indican que el manejo de recursos naturales y la diversidad de actividades agrícolas sustentan la economía de las familias campesinas, y les permite subsistir en el contexto de un mundo capitalista.
