Caracterización económica de las zonas urbanas relevantes en México

Abstract

Ante la ausencia de estudios económicos donde se atienda la pertenencia de las ciudades a un subsistema urbano donde prevalece la cercanía geográfica, este documento presenta una descripción económica de carácter general de las Zonas Urbanas Relevantes (ZUR) de México, concepto basado en una agrupación de ciudades originalmente planteada por la Secretaría de Desarrollo Social (SEDESOL). Por medio de la tipología de la caracterización económica de las ZUR se aprecia que hay muy poca correspondencia entre el nivel de atributos económicos y la contigüidad geográfica, haciendo patente la ruptura territorial, de manera que se intuye un alto grado de heterogeneidad económica entre las zonas urbanas de México.
