Abstract

Este trabalho tem por finalidade refletir e debater aspectos da economia da Região Metropolitana da Grande Vitória, estado do Espírito Santo, Brasil, e o funcionamento dos cursos superiores de tecnologia, na perspectiva da preparação de profissionais com nível superior diante das novas exigências do mundo do trabalho. Discutem-se, também, características acadêmicas e sociais das graduações tecnológicas tendo em vista a legislação educacional brasileira e a realidade das instituições de ensino que oferecem esses tipos de cursos. Observa-se que as graduações tecnológicas apresentam um grande potencial de atuação e crescimento na região, levando-se em conta as exigências do mercado para formação de profissionais que atuam na economia local.
