Abstract

La práctica de la auditoría nació en Gran Bretaña durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX y se extendió a otros países de cultura empresarial anglosajona, sobre todo en EEUU de América, consolidándose en las tres últimas décadas finales del pasado siglo XIX, como una forma de proporcionar información contable con fiabilidad que hiciera más transparente al inversor el mercado de valores, sobre todo después del precedente que supuso el denominado Crack de 1929.
