Abstract

En la actualidad sean realizados numerosos descubrimientos científicos que confirman el enorme potencial curativo que conserva el mundo vegetal. En años recientes, con investigaciones realizadas se ha descubierto aplicaciones sorprendentes para muchas plantas y sustancias derivadas de estas. Cada zona geográfica de México tiene una vegetación nativa con la que se practican extractos, ungüentos y remedios diferentes. Muchas de las especies vegetales utilizadas por nuestros antepasados por sus virtudes curativas pasaron a formar parte del recetario antiguo, que más tarde se vio enriquecida por los conocimientos de la vida moderna. Dichas plantas medicinales y los remedios que entonces utilizaban se siguen usando hoy en día.
