La producción platanera y la reorganización del territorio en el Soconusco, Chiapas

Abstract

El objetivo del presente texto es analizar las distintas reconfiguraciones por las que ha atravesado la región el Soconusco, Chiapas, producto de la implantación y desarrollo de diversos cultivos, las practicas y los sistemas de producción asociados a los mismos, principalmente de la producción platanera. Para ello se realizó una amplia revisión bibliográfica y sistematización de datos estadísticos pertinentes ha dicha producción. A través del uso de un Sistema de Información Geográfica y el Software Arc View 3.2 se generaron diversos mapas en los que se muestran las distintas configuraciones territoriales. Se destaca el importante papel que ha tenido la adopción de una o más innovaciones tecnológicas y el de éstas en la (re)configuración territorial. Se concluye que la tecnología confiere una configuración territorial, organiza e impone una división social del trabajo, generando en algunos casos una peculiar especialización de la fuerza de trabajo.
