Crise Sistêmica E Auxílio Financeiro: Faltou Um Lender Of Last Resort Para O Banco Pelotense?

Abstract

O objetivo do presente trabalho é comprovar que a ausência de um lender of last resort capaz de socorrer o Banco Pelotense 1no momento em que se desencadeou a crise sistêmica de 1929, foi um fato determinante para a quebra do Banco. Esse argumento é sustentado e desenvolvido através da aplicação do conceito de lender of last resort ao Banco Pelotense. Essa aplicação conceitual foi realizada a partir da apresentação do histórico do sistema financeiro gaúcho, mais detalhadamente do Banco Pelotense, e das causas que possivelmente levaram a instituição à falência.
