LA POBLACIÓN VENEZOLANA Un análisis descriptivo-empírico sobre la desigualdad, desde un enfoque de capital humano

Abstract

Desde el siglo pasado se vienen produciendo cambios importantes en la estructura y características de la población en Venezuela. Así vemos que las altas tasas de natalidad que venían produciéndose desde finales de la II guerra mundial, empezaron a decaer con tendencia durante la década de los 60 del siglo pasado, lo que contribuyo a la caída sostenida de la tasa de crecimiento de la población (aún cuando la tasa de mortalidad venia descendiendo desde antes), la composición de las familias ha pasado de numerosas, a familias menos numerosas en promedio, la bases de la pirámide de la población se han hecho más angostas y más anchas en su medio, la esperanza de vida ha aumentado significativamente, la población se ha concentrado más en zonas urbanas etc., además de producirse un considerable incremento en las desigualdades socioeconómicas, que la ubican entre los poblaciones con más inequidades de nuestro continente.
