El Protegido del Gigante. Algunas consideraciones sobre las relaciones sino-africanas contemporáneas

Abstract

Contrariamente a lo que muchos pueden imaginar, China ha mantenido relaciones con el continente africano desde tiempos milenarios, especialmente en materia de intercambio comercial. Una de las primeras referencias históricas a esta vinculación se encuentra en el Yu-yang-tsa-tsu, de Tuan Chéng-shih († 863), donde el autor escribe sobre las tierras de Po-pa-li (Somalia). El encargado de comercio exterior de Quanzhou, en la provincia de Fujian, escribiría en 1226 su “Descripción de los Pueblos Bárbaros”, donde analiza los casos de Zanzibar y Somalia.
