Abstract

Roland Barthes (1915-1980) parte hacia China en 1974, del 11 de abril al 4 mayo, junto con otros miembros del grupo “Tel Quel “, la flor y nata de la intelectualidad francesa de los 70’s. Integraba la delegación, François Wahl y Philippe Sollers, Julia Kristeva y Marcelin Pleynet. En un viaje pagado por ellos mismos, todo el itinerario estaba acordado previamente con las autoridades chinas , preestablecido, perfectamente regulado. Es lo que Barthes llamó : “Turismo de reyes”. Pero resultó un viaje donde muchas veces no se logró atravesar la doble valla de obstáculos : El idioma y la pantalla de propaganda maoísta china, en su afán de mostrar los logros obtenidos por la “Revolución Cultural, cuya terrible realidad solo fue conocida casi 20 años después.
