Una Explicación Alternativa Del Crecimiento Económico Colombiano A La Relación Crecimiento - Seguridad Democrática

Abstract

Una explicación teórica de los determinantes del crecimiento económico, el empleo y la disminución de la pobreza en Colombia se encuentra en la llamada “ecuación económica del gobierno” que explica cómo la seguridad puede atraer la inversión extranjera, impulsar la inversión nacional e incentivar el consumo, generando aumentos en el crecimiento económico y en el empleo, lo cual impactaría positivamente en la pobreza a largo plazo. En este trabajo, se pretende contrastar la ecuación económica del gobierno Uribe con la evidencia empírica entre los años 2002 y 2006 para evaluar su validez, a través de un análisis exploratorio de los principales determinantes del crecimiento económico colombiano. Se encuentra que la seguridad objetiva, y la “percepción” de seguridad es un punto de partida para la inversión, constituyéndose en un elemento necesario, más no suficiente para el crecimiento económico, por lo cual las explicaciones acerca del desempeño productivo del país se encuentran en otra variedad de aspectos tanto internos como externos, tales como la liquidez internacional, términos de intercambio favorables y el dinamismo de los patrones de comercio internacional.
