Para superar o déficit de saneamento básico no Brasil: papel potencial das tecnologias apropriadas

Abstract

A realidade sanitária brasileira é preocupante, com milhões de pessoas sem acesso a serviços de saneamento. Este artigo, de cunho ensaístico e exploratório, recupera parte do debate já centenário no país que articula saneamento e desenvolvimento, e discute, a partir de revisão de literatura, alguns artefatos com características de tecnologia apropriada que oferecem potencial de contribuir para um novo padrão de políticas públicas na área. São enumeradas algumas tecnologias promissoras e de baixo custo que podem, se bem exploradas, contribuir para a superação do histórico déficit de saneamento no Brasil.
