Abstract

La biodiversidad de los manglares en la costa ecuatoriana es realmente extensa y posee especies únicas en su clasificación, siendo una de estas el denominado cangrejo azul, que por la exquisitez de su carne se ha convertido en el blanco preferido de los recolectores de este marisco. El cangrejo azul (cardisoma guanhumi) tiene papel importante en la economía de habitantes de comunidades rurales donde cultivan el cangrejo azul y han convertido a esta especie en su principal fuente de ingresos económicos. La captura de este cangrejo, aunque está regulada por las autoridades nacionales tiene papel importante en la economía de habitantes de comunidades rurales donde se cultiva el cangrejo azul y han convertido a esta especie en su principal fuente de ingresos económicos en donde los nativos del lugar explotan de manera anti técnica los manglares en el que habita el cangrejo azul.
