Abstract

Ante la confrontación y el embate privatizador del proyecto neoliberal transnacional sobre los recursos naturales, hídricos, forestales y mineros, entre otros, el tema de los movimientos sociales en América Latina reviste particular importancia en el proceso de desarrollo y transformación desde el tránsito de la relación capital-trabajo a la etapa actual, y aún más el análisis de cómo estos movimientos en su nueva conformación se corresponden con la búsqueda de una estrategia de desarrollo alternativa y han venido convirtiéndose a través de sus luchas en una esperanza de Otro desarrollo para América Latina. En este contexto la presencia de los movimientos sociales en defensa del agua da significado a los conflictos ambientales y se orienta a la búsqueda de alternativas de gestión del agua de uso urbano para nuestras ciudades.
