La Competitividad De Los Paã Ses Perifã‰Ricos Del Euro: ¿Una Crisis De Demanda O Una Crisis Inducida?

Abstract

La crisis del euro se debe, según una línea de pensamiento muy extendida, a la pérdida de competitividad o la degradación del tipo de cambio real de los países periféricos del euro durante los años de gestación de la crisis de 2007. Este trabajo analiza la forma de medir esa competitividad y establece los mecanismos de transmisión a través de los cuales esa pérdida ha tenido lugar. Estudia a la vez si ha existido un exceso de demanda en estos países durante los primeros diez años de existencia del euro. Propone matizaciones importantes a esta línea de pensamiento y estudia las consecuencias que para estos países ha habido por el hecho de pertenecer a una zona de moneda común. Se analizan tres grupos de países: nueve países desarrollados fuera del Euro, ocho países que junto a Alemania forma el núcleo del Euro y cuatro países periféricos.
