Abstract

A temática do desenvolvimento regional tem provocado inúmeros debates na sociedade contemporânea, tendo em vista as diversas transformações estruturais por que passam as economias capitalistas no cenário atual. Em face desse contetxo, este artigo traça um panorama teórico sobre as teorias regionais do desenvolvimento econômico, identificando tal problemática ao longo do pensamento social econômico, desde os clássicos até as contribuições contemporâneas. Especificamente, exprime-se o eixo de analise e a ideia força dos paradigmas regionais com ênfase na aglomeração produtiva e com ênfase nas forças endógenas do território. Os resultados revelam que os paradigmas sustentados pelas novas perspectivas de desenvolvimento inclui melhorias significativas nas condições sociais da comunidade local, incentivando a participação e a cidadania, atenuando os efeitos da injusta desigualdade social e econômica verificada na aglomeração. Estudos dessa natureza tornam-se relevantes por destacar as diferenças entre as teorias do desenvolvimento regional e apontar suas afinidades estratégicas para a formulação de políticas regionais.
