A cadeia global da indústria de chocolate: as transnacionais e novas formas de governança

Abstract

A partir do conceito teórico de Global Commodity Chains, como proposto por Gereffi (1994a), examinam-se as alterações ocorridas, durante as duas últimas décadas, na estrutura da governança da cadeia global da indústria de chocolate decorrente das atividades econômicas das transnacionais. A forma organizacional da cadeia foi identificada como sendo do tipo producer-driven commodity chain, em que um reduzido grupo transnacionais, integrados num sistema de networks ou redes, passou a controlar a organização operacional e institucional dentro dos segmentos de trading, processamento e industrialização da cadeia global de chocolate. A estrutura interna da governança da cadeia alterou-se, também, como resultado do alto número de fusões e aquisições ocorridas durante os últimos dez anos.
