El Big Bang en Japón

Abstract

La recuperación de la recesión y la solución al problema de los créditos incobrables de las compañías Jusen - especializadas en la financiación de la vivienda – son las cuestiones que más inciden en la actual situación económica de Japón. Por otra parte, el déficit fiscal y la reestructuración, incluidas las reformas administrativas y fiscal, son también otros problemas que debería resolver el país a medio y largo plazos. Dada su naturaleza, todos ellos están estrechamente relacionados. Suzuki Yoshio y Yoshitomi Masura, dos renombrados economistas japoneses que han desempeñado cargos importantes en el Banco de Japón y en la agencia de planificación económica – organismos involucrados en las decisiones de la política económica nacional - respectivamente, plantean cuestiones muy interesantes en relación con la recuperación económica nipona. Suzuki sostiene que en 1995 se lograron superar las tres barreras que habían frenado el restablecimiento económico nacional estas son: La primera barrera corresponde al estancamiento del consumo debido a los efectos del terremoto de Kobe, al atentado en el metro de Tokío con gas Sarín y a la apreciación de la moneda que en un momento determinado llegó a situarse en 79 yenes frente al dólar.
