La calidad de vida y la felicidad

Uno de los objetivos primordiales del desarrollo es mejorar las condiciones de vida de las personas. La calidad de vida de las personas es determinada por factores tangibles e intangibles, sin embargo, los factores intangibles que determinan sustancialmente la calidad de vida y/o el bienestar de las personas tales como la felicidad y la satisfacción personal son los menos considerados en el análisis económico. Por lo tanto, este documento analiza la importancia de la felicidad en la calidad de vida de los individuos desde una perspectiva económica. Los indicadores subjetivos pueden resultar esenciales tanto para evaluar el éxito como para determinar los objetivos de políticas públicas. Sin el apoyo de la población, las políticas públicas en materia social son condenadas al fracaso en el largo plazo ya que la población difícilmente apoyaría los programas que el gobierno implemente puesto que se encuentra en menor o mayor grado insatisfecha. Se puede asumir entonces que la satisfacción plena o la felicidad de la población son factores fundamentales que determinan la calidad de vida entre la población.
