La indumentaria XITA: continuidad y cambios

Abstract

A través de los años los indígenas han sufrido discriminación en diferentes aspectos, como en su forma de vestir. Lo anterior ha ocasionado que la gente indígena cambie su vestimenta por la actual y así van construyendo una nueva identidad. En este trabajo etnográfico, se analizó la continuidad y los cambios, que ha sufrido la indumentaria xita (viejo), en la fiesta de los viejos. Dicha fiesta también se llama de Corpus Christi, y es parte de su identidad. La indumentaria indígena que se usa en la fiesta, de los mazahuas de Temascalcingo, Estado de México, ha sufrido una serie de cambios, desde su aparición hasta nuestros días. Actualmente siguen usando la vestimenta original, con algunos cambios de estilo.
