As cidades mundiais e a política urbana

Abstract

Os avanços tecnológicos das últimas décadas têm acarretado diversos questionamentos sobre o futuro das cidades numa economia global. A categoria de cidade mundial foi estabelecida partindo das características que as cidades necessitam desenvolver para serem englobadas no seleto círculo das que irão dirigir a nova economia global. Diante disto, nesta análise será investigada a forma pela qual o perfil urbano das cidades mundiais tem sido influenciado por esse processo e quais políticas urbanas necessitam ser adotadas para acelerar esta transformação. Para tanto foi empreendida uma metodologia investigativa baseada em análise bibliográfica, documental e verificação de dados oficiais. Identificou-se que as modificações na economia global ocasionaram impactos expressivos no processo de urbanização, contudo as especificidades existentes em cada país colaboram para a observância de uma multiplicidade de modelos espaciais.
