Las funciones del trabajador social en el campo de salud

Abstract

Uno de los campos de mayor demanda que ocupa el trabajador social es el sector sanitario, donde su labor es intervenir con individuos, familias y comunidades. El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en determinar las funciones que realiza el trabajador social en el campo de la salud. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica actualizada, así como entrevista aplicada a trabajadores sociales que laboran en determinadas instituciones de salud del sector público de la ciudad de Portoviejo- Ecuador. La información obtenida fue relevante, permitiendo constatar que el 60% de los trabajadores sociales conocen y desempeñan sus funciones de manera eficiente en este campo, interviniendo mayormente en el primer y segundo nivel de atención; es decir que el trabajador social se encuentra preparado y cumple con los requerimientos necesarios para el desempeño de sus funciones.
