Abstract

El turismo en la actualidad se presenta con una diversidad muy marcada, producto de tendencias socioculturales que se han manifestado en la forma en que se percibe y se realizan actividades de ocio en un mundo que ha avanzado hacia lo posmoderno. Una de estas tendencias posmodernas que dominan el mercado turístico es la de los productos y servicios sustentables que a su vez se relaciona con una creciente preocupación de los consumidores por el medio ambiente, la justicia social y económica. Estas manifestaciones de la posmodernidad han originado una búsqueda de nuevas y creativas formas de cumplir con estas exigencias del mercado por parte de los prestadores de servicios que se han tenido que adaptar a esta nueva realidad. Esta reflexión teórica abunda sobre las características esenciales de la posmodernidad y su relación con el desarrollo actual del turismo, especialmente en el aspecto de la sustentabilidad que se presenta como una estrategia invaluable y casi omnipresente en el mercado.
