Abstract

O objetivo deste artigo foi identificar e analisar as condições socioeconômicas de manejadores de quintais agroflorestais em uma comunidade rural de Santarém, Pará, Brasil (Amazônia Oriental). O trabalho foi conduzido a partir de entrevistas semiestruturadas, na comunidade “Boa Esperança†, cerca de 20km da Hidroelétrica de Curuá-Una. O nível de escolaridade dos agricultores deste estudo foi considerado baixo; os quintais variam em tamanho de 100 a 10.200 m2; o manejo das áreas é realizado segundo as necessidades familiares; a mulher é o principal responsável pela implantação e manejo desses sistemas. Os quintais agroflorestais que refletem a origem e trajetória das famílias, as condições socioeconômicas e culturais dos manejadores.
