Abstract

Tocantins é o Estado mais recente do Brasil, criado em 1988 no ato da promulgação da Constituição Nacional. Encontra-se divido em duas mesorregiões e oito microrregiões, sendo cinco microrregiões pertencentes à mesorregião Ocidental e três a mesorregião Oriental. A Microrregião de Araguaína está localizada mais ao norte de Tocantins, pertencendo à mesorregião Ocidental do Tocantins, e está distante cerca de 377 km de Palmas. Objetivamos com este artigo traçar notas, que possam gerar discussões sobre o desenvolvimento sócio-territorial da microrregião de Araguaína no contexto da construção da BR-153. Para isso, dividimos este trabalho em três partes, a primeira que é a introdução, fazendo uma abordagem sobre os fatores que levaram a formação e criação do estado do Tocantins; Na segunda parte abordaremos quais as contribuições da BR-153 à atividade econômica da microrregião de Araguaína e a terceira parte, será a guisa de conclusões sobre notas discutidas ao longo do trabalho e buscando fazer uma reflexão sobre a contribuição da BR-153 para o desenvolvimento da microrregião de Araguaína.
