Abstract

Las actividades asociadas a la práctica de la meditación están ganando actualmente una mayor presencia en Cataluña (Zenit, 2001) y cada vez son más las casas rurales, monasterios y/o templos que ofrecen retiros espirituales y actividades de meditación, yoga o reiki. El objetivo principal de este artículo es definir el concepto de meditación y su papel como actividad turística. Asimismo, se muestran ejemplos de establecimientos turísticos en Cataluña que responden a la demanda de una clientela cada vez más interesada en esta actividad. La mayor parte de la información se ha obtenido a través de algunas páginas webs y blogs. Además, se ha contactado personalmente con algunos establecimientos para obtener más información sobre este nuevo tipo de turismo alternativo. Como conclusión, esta actividad turística emergente en Cataluña podría estar asociada a diferentes tipos de turismo. Esto varía en función de los motivos principales por los cuales la persona decide combinar esta práctica con el viaje.
