Ciudad Extendida, Habitabilidad Y Seguridad Humana: El Caso De La Zona Metropolitana De San Luis Potosã

Abstract

En las últimas décadas, las ciudades latinoamericanas han experimentado un crecimiento cuyo dinamismo rebasa por mucho los procesos de planificación. Al mismo tiempo, la economía global busca inversiones internacionales que facilitan el empleo en pequeñas ciudades donde existe mano de obra barata, poniendo en desventaja la relación entre los actores que intervienen en el proceso de urbanización, favoreciendo la segregación socioespacial, ya que, esta es importante para mantener precios laborales bajos, a costa del medio ambiente y la calidad de vida de sus habitantes, consolidando zonas homogéneas carentes de infraestructura y servicios. Lo anterior, incrementa la inversión de los usuarios en transporte para trasladarse a centros urbanos con los equipamientos necesarios para su desarrollo integral (Alguacil, 1998:206). Por lo anterior, revisaremos los conceptos de habitabilidad y seguridad humana en el caso de la ciudad extendida de la Zona Metropolitana de San Luis Potosí y su crecimiento hacia Villa de Reyes con la zona industrial y el conjunto habitacional “Caminos Reales a Jesús María†.
