Abstract

O ambiente rural possui muitas singularidades, o que tem gerado inúmeros questionamentos, debates e pesquisas referentes ao tema no Brasil, especialmente no que se refere ao processo de Desenvolvimento rural e as políticas públicas que são implementadas nesses espaços, a fim de promover esse desenvolvimento. Buscando entender como se articulou o desenvolvimento rural brasileiro, que lugar a agricultura familiar ocupou e qual o papel que esse segmento tem desempenhado nesse processo, o presente trabalho traz uma abordagem conceitual e revisões de literatura sobre o tema, destacando o papel multifuncional que a agricultura familiar tem desempenhado no processo de transformações das relações sociais, econômicas, culturais, etc. no campo, configurando-se como um forte instrumento de promoção do desenvolvimento no meio rural, aproximando a discussão à realidade brasileira.
