Biopolítica E Mecanismos De Limpeza Social No Brasil: A Influência Do Discurso Eugênico-Higienista No Controle Do Crime Na Virada Do Século Xx

Abstract

O presente texto pretende averiguar o modo como se experimentou o caráter biopolítico dos processos e mecanismos eugênicos e higienistas no Rio Grande do Sul no final do século XIX e início do XX. Utilizamos a noção de biopolítica apresentada por Michel Foucault, a qual pode ser verificada na relação ao nível dos mecanismos, das técnicas e das tecnologias de poder, que começam a ser implantadas visando certos processos próprios da vida. Almejamos, então, observar os processos de limpeza social no Rio Grande do Sul em uma perspectiva histórica. Reflete-se a influência que o discurso eugênico-higienista, a partir de determinadas tecnologias de poder, desempenhou na conjuntura social do Rio Grande do Sul na virada do século XX.
