Abstract

O presente texto realiza um estudo sobre a assessoria jurídica universitária popular como um instrumento protetor de direitos e garantias fundamentais no processo penal brasileiro. Para isso, apontamos algumas noções sobre a assistência jurídica e a assessoria jurídica universitária popular, seus papéis no Estado Democrático de Direito-Constitucional, como também em relação ao princípio da dignidade da pessoa humana e, por fim, ao devido processo penal. A assessoria jurídica universitária popular é um dos instrumentos mais importantes de proteção das garantias e direitos fundamentais do processo penal na contemporaneidade.
