Abstract

el artículo se refiere a la influencia de la Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo en el desarrollo de la sociedad michoacana. Destaca los orígenes, ubicación, y trascendencia sociocultural de la Universidad Michoacana. Se hace referencia a la población del estado de Michoacán y sus características. La Universidad Michoacanas surgió del Colegio de San Nicolás Obispo. Paso por varias etapas, hasta convertirse en la Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo que fue la primer Universidad Autónoma de México. Ofrece diversos programas educativos: licenciaturas, especialidades, maestrías y doctorados. Y su contribución al desarrollo de la sociedad michoacana ha sido muy importante. Igualmente ha realizado aportaciones importantes en las transformaciones sociales del país.
