Tragedia Y Modernidad, Una Persistencia Innecesaria

Abstract

El presente ensayo examina no solo como se forma el miedo moderno y su relación con la tragedia, sino las diversas formas culturales que vivirla respecto al futuro. Anteponemos la figura de la 'personalidad heroica' como una construcción moderna anclada en la necesidad de sufrir una pérdida. Esta tendencia lleva a las personas a sentirse única respecto a otros. Si el héroe es aquel que no se doblega ante el destino, también es un ser que lleva tras sí una historia de dolor y sufrimiento. Ahora bien, tanto los países de raigambre cultural latino como los germánicos han elaborado diferentes formas de vivir lo trágico, lo cierto es que el futuro, como construcción social, juega un rol importante en dichos procesos. Mientras para los anglosajones el futuro se mantiene como una entidad inmutable que no puede ser modificada, para los latinos el futuro se construye sólo desde el presente.
