Abstract

El conocimiento del papel de la agroindustria azucarera en la historia de Cuba, resulta indispensable para la comprensión del proceso de Formación Nacional cubano, teniendo en cuenta la influencia que tuvo ésta en la modelación de la sociedad cubana, como primer renglón de la economía, alrededor del cual se movió todo el acontecer sociopolítico y cultural del país, incidiendo, incluso, en la formación de los grandes movimientos sociales, de instituciones y personalidades prominentes, que determinaron la trayectoria política, jurídica y social de nuestro país. Por tanto la deformación económica del desarrollo capitalista del Estado cubano, tiene sus fundamentos en el modelo agroexportador azucarero y en la fuerte vinculación al mercado norteamericano, por el carácter dependiente y latifundista con que se estableció durante en el siglo XIX, impidiendo la diversificación de la estructura productiva cubana.
