Abstract

La educación médica superior de pregrado en Cuba sintetiza y materializa estas tendencias en ideas concretas que caracterizan la formación del Médico General Básico. Por ser la educación médica un subsistema del sistema nacional de salud pública, el modelo del especialista en Medicina General Integral (etapa profesional siguiente a la de Médico General Básico) e importantes documentos rectores del proceso de formación de este especialista, como son la Carpeta Metodológica de la Atención Primaria de Salud y Médico de la Familia y el Programa de trabajo del Médico y la Enfermera de la Familia, aportan los principios y estrategias políticas para el trabajo y formación de dicho especialista, los cuales a su vez son determinantes en la definición del modelo profesional del médico general formado en Cuba y en la precisión de las características y condiciones necesarias para el proceso formativo de estos.
