Abstract

La radio es una de las maravillas tecnológicas más trascendentales de la historia de la humanidad. Según los especialistas del tema, es el más generoso y humano de los medios. En1897 el italiano Guillermo Marconi realizó la primera transmisión sin hilos por lo que se le reconoce como el inventor de la radio. La primera señal regular de la radio en Cuba, se produce en agosto de 1922, en la emisora 2LC, fundada por el destacado autor cubano, Luis Casas Romero. Posteriormente, el 10 Octubre del mismo año, la emisora PWX, auspiciada por la ITT, inaugura oficialmente las transmisiones radiales en Cuba. Victoria de Las Tunas resultó una de las primeras ciudades de Cuba en tener una emisora de radio. El acontecimiento se produjo el 21 de octubre de 1930 con la salida al aire de la emisora CMKE. El 6 de abril de 1941 salió al aire CMKG Radio Tunas, emisora que jugaría un importante papel en el desarrollo cultural del territorio.
