Abstract

En el mundo, el número de personas de 65 años y más se habrá multiplicado entre 1975 y 2025, en los países desarrollados representan 1 de cada 5 habitantes, agudizándose el problema en países en desarrollo. Cuba no está exenta del fenómeno de envejecimiento poblacional, siendo uno de los 50 países con mayor proporción, lo cual representa el 16,6 % de los habitantes y se estima que se incremente al 26,1% en el 2025.
