El Barrio Y La Ciudad, Espacios En Conflicto: Entre La Exclusión Y La Autoexclusión

Abstract

Los estudios sobre la habitabilidad en las ciudades se deben contemplar tres grandes dimensiones espaciales que conforman a una ciudad: a nivel macro, regiones y zonas metropolitanas; nivel intermedio, espacio público, colonias y barrios; y, nivel micro, la casa habitación. Cada uno de estos espacios, aparentemente desligados y contradictorios, se concatenan e integran por una serie de situaciones políticas, sociales y simbólicas que se manifiestan en la práctica ciudadana y en la manera de apropiarse del espacio de forma material y simbólica. El pasar por alto dichas dimensiones de la ciudad, tanto por estudiosos y agentes políticos y sociales es negar la escancia misma de la ciudad, como espacio de construcción de ciudadanía y de identidad, desembocando en espacios de exclusión y autoexclusión divididos por fronteras simbólicas.
