El Nacimiento De Un Oficio. Cinco Notas Sobre El Cine Y La Crítica Cinematográfica En Cuba

Abstract

¿Cómo surgió la tradición de escribir sobre cine en Cuba? Esa es la pregunta que dio origen a este artículo que pretende sumergirse en el período que va desde 1897, fecha en que llega a La Habana el francés Gabriel Veyre, representante de la casa Lumière en el continente americano, y el año 1920. Una vez realizadas las primeras exhibiciones del cinematógrafo en la capital cubana, un conjunto de cronistas teatrales y literarios, sumamente conmovidos por el novedoso invento, comenzaron a describir sus impresiones en las principales publicaciones habaneras, dando inicio así al oficio de escribir sobre cine en Cuba.
