Abstract

El artículo incide en la ingente actividad que el catalán Joan Lluhí i Vallescá (Barcelona 1897 – México 1944) desarrolló como Ministro de Trabajo, Sanidad y Previsión en los escasos cuatro meses de 1936, desde mediados de mayo a principios de septiembre, en los que estuvo al frente de dicho Ministerio en sendos gobiernos presididos por Santiago Casares Quiroga (1884-1950) y José Giral Pereira (1879-1962). Encuadrado en un convulso periodo de la reciente historia española (el 18 de julio de ese año se produjo el Alzamiento Nacional), sus páginas incluyen numerosas misivas que ponen de manifiesto la diversa problemática económica y social de los meses que transcurrieron desde mayo a septiembre de 1936, aunque esta segunda parte de su epistolario se cierra con una carta de 15 de julio de 1936.
