El Urbanismo De La Antigua Roma

Abstract

Un elemento básico será el que distinga las arquitecturas griega y romana: su espíritu constructivo. Si en Grecia las construcciones estaban pensadas para embellecer, en Roma eran ideadas para servir. Por lo tanto lo que primaba no era únicamente el engrandecimiento del espíritu, sino también enaltecer al propio imperio. Este afán utilitario le hará emplear materiales nuevos, como son el hormigón (Opus Caementicium) o el ladrillo (Opus latericium) a los que se le unía el tradicional mármol de la arquitectura griega como revestimiento, el cual le daba una belleza exterior a la que se le unía la economía de medios.
