Apuntes Para La Delimitación Y Estudio Del Centro Urbano

Abstract

Podemos delimitar el centro como el lugar geográfico y con un contenido social específico. Se asocia a las siguientes funciones: integración de elementos del conjunto de la ciudad, la coordinación de actividades y la función simbólica. La noción de centro urbano no implica automáticamente la de centralidad geográfica y además no es una entidad espacial inmutable. Por tanto es preciso delimitarlo en cada momento histórico en relación con el resto de la ciudad. La noción de centro urbano, es fundamentalmente sociológica, pero es preciso también delimitar las formas y las características de ese centro. A la hora de delimitar el centro urbano se han seguido dos direcciones: analizar sus usos y actividades o fijarse en los valores del suelo. En las grandes áreas metropolitanas actuales se produce una descentralización urbana y la difusión del fenómeno de la centralidad
