Perspectivas Del Patrimonio Histórico: ¿Tiene Futuro El Pasado?

Abstract

La evolución del concepto de patrimonio ha sido de una constante ampliación, en la consciencia cada vez mayor de la importancia de preservar los elementos que nos han ido configurando como grupo. Paradójicamente, a la vez que cada vez se valora más la dimensión patrimonial, ésta pierde su función esencial. Del monumento soporte de la memoria hemos pasado al patrimonio soporte de la identidad: como factor de cohesión, la identidad ofrece a un grupo los medios para el propio reconocimiento, para perpetuarse, para proyectarse en el futuro. Pero ese refugio se muestra incapaz de ser algo más que una mercancía, destinada a consumirse inmediatamente, incapaz de fijarse a una identidad duradera.
