Breve Historia Del Concepto De Patrimonio Histórico: Del Monumento Al Territorio

Abstract

El concepto de patrimonio es producto de la aparición de la Historia como disciplina autónoma en la primera mitad del siglo XIX. Su origen, se remonta al siglo anterior, cuando se desarrolla una nueva filosofía de la historia (posibilitada por los ataques de los filósofos empiristas a las concepciones cartesianas). La Ilustración continuó profundizando en la renovación de la ciencia histórica, dotándola al mismo tiempo de sus contenidos más característicos como el desprecio por algunas épocas consideradas oscuras y una concepción uniforme de la naturaleza humana. Serán Rousseau y Herder los encargados de relativizar esos conceptos y, de esa manera, sentar las bases del nuevo edificio histórico del romanticismo cuya más completa configuración es la filosofía de la historia de Hegel y cuyos dos pilares fundamentales serán el historicismo y el nacionalismo ( Hernando, 1995).
