Abstract

El urbanismo es un mecanismo reduccionista de la diversidad y complejidad de las ciudades, tiene el propósito de anular “el efecto territorio”, minimizando incluso la distancia. En una competición en que las “ciudades internacionales” necesitan crear y mantener una imagen de sí mismas para atraer al capital trasnacional, por lo que desarrollan toda una estrategia cultural. Además estamos asistiendo al predominio de la urbanización universal, interdependiente y difusa que hace estallar los límites antiguamente precisos de la ciudad tradicional. La mundialización económica es responsable de unos procesos de urbanización incontrolados que se aceleran de forma exponencial a la vez que se profundizan las relaciones de dominación centro periferia
