Abstract

En los últimos quince años se han puesto de moda los diccionarios de juristas tanto en Alemania, como en Francia, Hungría, Austria , México y España. No así en Italia, territorio donde prácticamente se inventó el Derecho o se construyó por primera vez de una forma científica y se volvió a reconstruir a partir del siglo XII, que no cuenta con un diccionario al respecto , aunque el interminable Dizionario biografico degli italiani publica excelentes semblanzas de juristas de todos los tiempos, incluidos muchos de origen español, nacidos en España, por solo poner dos ejemplos los dos Papas Borja o Borgia, que son valencianos originarios de la Torre de Canals y de Játiva, ambos dos doctores. Calixto III era Alfonso de Borja (1378-1458) y fue catedrático de Derecho Canónico de la Universidad de Lérida. Rodrigo de Borja y Borja (c. 1430-1503), llamado al solio pontificio, quien lo asumió bajo el nombre de Alejandro VI, era doctor en Derecho Canónico por la Universidad de Bolonia lográndolo el 13 de agosto de 1456 .
